ICAT Commercial Photography
The Idaho Center of Advanced Technology (ICAT) Commercial Photography program serves students from all three high schools in the Nampa School District. It is a three year, professional technical program based at Columbia High School.
My goals are that students will leave my classroom every day a better student/person than they were when they entered, at the conclusion of year three they will be proficient in their photography and editing skills so that they are well prepared to go on to higher education or to enter the work force and that they will have learned to make creative decisions and to be an asset wherever their life will take them.
In our program, advanced students have the opportunity to do real photography jobs for real people. They will learn to produce under pressure, which is a skill that can be used in any career field they decide to pursue.
Our students are active in the SkillsUSA student organization and compete in the SkillsUSA photography and leadership competitions. We have numerous state champions, the 2009 National Bronze Medalist and 2011 National Silver Medalist. In 2012 our students swept the Regional competition.
