Can you believe it? It's our last class of the year! It has been a strange and crazy year, but has been good. I have learned a lot and I hope you feel the same. I wish that we could end the year with a big critique and a party, but in a distance learning environment that is not possible.
Remember that Friday, May 22nd is the last acceptable day for work to be turned in. Most of you have done a fantastic job at getting things in and caught up. The work, for the most part looks good and I have seen great progress this year. If you need any last minute assistance or have questions, please reach out and let me help. Also, if you have not yet returned your equipment, please do so ASAP! I sincerely hope that you have a great end to your year and that your summer break is fantastic! I hope to see you all again in the fall! Here we are. Already the last week of classes. It has gone so fast! It has definitely not been a normal year, but it has been a good one. I have seen a lot of progress and growth, and that is what it is all about.
For class today, check Power School and then make a plan for the week. Post your plan on Padlet: https://padlet.com/tmoffett/2ah It is definitely not too late to get things turned in! Friday is the last acceptable date. Message or email me if you have questions, need clarification on anything, or need assistance. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend! I sure did!
We're Zooming today for our check in. We are down to 2 weeks and we need to make sure we are all on the same page to finish out the year strong. Please remember to check in your equipment by Wednesday!! Email the secretaries at [email protected] to schedule a time to drop it off at the school. Please start getting your projects in so that we can see where you are at and what last minute items need clearing up. For class today, spend your time wisely and efficiently finishing up at least one of your projects. If you are one of the few that are completely caught up, have some fun, make some pictures, take a nap, or whatever floats your boat!
Remember that cameras are due to be returned no later than May 13th, that is next week! The final week of classes will be to finish up any editing and get any last minute work turned in. Please email the secretaries at the school ([email protected]) and let them know when you will be there. They will take your gear and get it to me to check in. Putting your name on the equipment will make check in much faster as well. We have just three weeks to go, and some of us are three weeks behind! We really need to make a push to get it done! The free choice project was given two months ago (March 5th) and only half of us have it in. Let's step it up, please! The Covid-19 project should have been quite easy, just carry a camera (I know you all have cell phones on you...I see them in class!) and make pictures of things that show how life is different. Flat Lay should be in this week. It will only take an hour or so, two hours if you want to do a great job.
So for class, I'm not taking any time for a meeting, however, if you have questions message me. I just want to see some work! Power School is current through the Covid-19 project, so check it. If an assignment is not in the grade book, then I don't have it. If you thought you had turned it in, let me know so we can figure out what happened and get it in. Cameras are due to be returned no later than May 13th. Please email the secretaries at the school ([email protected]) and let them know when you will be there. They will take your gear and get it to me to check in. Putting your name on the equipment will make check in much faster as well. You've got this! Finish Strong! You can do this! Finish Strong!! Continue working on your projects. If you have not turned in your Free Choice or Covid-19 projects, I expect at least one of them today. I am available for questions most all day, just message/email me. If necessary, I can set up a meeting on Zoom to demonstrate or clarify anything you need. From the looks of what hasn't come in, I expect that many of you have questions, so please ask! Let me help you!
For class today, I will be hosting a Question and Answer session during your class time on Zoom. Look for the invitation link in an email and Remind message. You need to reply to the email (or send me one) stating what your photographic goal for the week is and what you will turn in (evidence of progress and learning) by the end of the week.
Many of you are still working on the Free Choice project (Due April 15) and the Covid-19 project (Due last week). Turning these in will greatly impact your grade for the positive. Your current project is not due until the 8th in hopes that some of us will get caught up. For those wanting a challenge, I have posted a bonus project on the assignments page. I am also open to you proposing a bonus project of your own if you want a little something extra. Remember, all equipment MUST BE TURNED IN BY MAY 13 (Seniors by May 6th). Please email the secretaries ([email protected]) to arrange a drop off time. As Wayne Gretzky said, "You always miss 100% of the shots you never take," so quit procrastinating and get out there and get it done! Have a great week! A Response to Covid-19 is due. Work on that today and share it with me. I am hoping to get enough work that we can eventually have an exhibit of your work. The next project is posted. Please read through it, look at the websites and watch the video to get an idea as to what you should accomplish. This is a project that can easily be completed in an afternoon (1-2 hours tops). You can even use your camera on your phone if you want. I would suggest using the Lightroom app if you go that way. We will discuss this project in more depth next week.
If you have questions, I am available today to assist you, so just message me so I can help. If I don't hear from you, I assume everything is perfect, even though down deep I really know it is not! I miss you guys, so let me help! Now, do your work than have a fantastic weekend, I hope everyone had a great weekend! For class today, we will have a short meeting to check in and report on our Free Choice projects (overdue!) and the Response to Covid-19 project. I hope all is going well. Just carrying your camera with you all the time will give your the opportunities to make photographs. This does not have to be a time consuming project if you do that! Most of you always have a camera with you (your phone camera), so use that if it is the only camera with you at the time that a photo op arises. The best camera is the one you have with you, so if you only have your phone, at that time that is the best camera...so use it!
We are nearing the end of the year and need to be thinking about turning in the cameras and other equipment that you have checked out. All equipment must be in no later than May 13 in order to avoid fines! It can be turned in at the school, but you need to make an appointment with the secretaries so that they are aware that you are coming. Please email them at [email protected] letting them know when you will be there. Somehow identify the equipment with your name (tape a paper with your name on it) so that when they give it to me, I am aware and can more quickly get it checked in. It has been a strange but good year. Let's finish strong! We will not be meeting online today. I expect for your Free Choice projects to be in by now. If they are not, FINISH THEM UP TODAY!! I am available to answer questions and help you today. Message me if you need something.
For those of you who have finished things up on time, use today to photograph for the Covid-19 project. This can really be a powerful project. I hope to be able to have an exhibit of your work when we get back to school. Keep your camera near you so that you can make images when they happen. That is the key. Your camera is really just a visual sketch book for this project. See what happens when you approach photography this way. I look forward to seeing what you produce! |
